The purple passionfruit is botanically known as “Passiflora edulis” and is a species of the Passiflora genus. The plant is a vigorous, evergreen vine native to tropical regions in Central and South America. It produces an abundance of egg-shaped, deep purple fruit that are widely popular in the tropics for their sweet aromatic flavor.
