Nutritional Value
Gold Pearl onions are an excellent source of dietary fiber, vitamins C and B6, potassium, folate, and iron. They also contain some calcium for bone strength.
Uses
Gold Pearl onions can be boiled or steamed whole to tenderize them before using in soups, salads or vegetable dishes. They can also be roasted with other vegetables until they caramelize for a sweet flavor when included in meals or used as a side dish. Additionally, Gold Pearl onions make an excellent pickling ingredient and can be used in sauces and condiments like chutneys or relishes. Chopped small and added to mashed potatoes adds a bit of texture to the dish. Gold Pearl onions pair well with cheese, bacon, beef, tomatoes, herbs like parsley and thyme, olive oil, rosemary, garlic, butter, and shallots. The onions will keep up to two weeks when stored in a cool and dark area.
