White Hon Shimeji mushrooms are botanically classified as Lyophyllum decastes and are members of the Agaricaceae family. They are also known as White Clamshell Mushrooms, Pinecone Mushrooms, and Cow’s Teeth Mushroom.
Storage
White Hon Shimeji mushrooms should be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to four days. The mushrooms can also be lightly blanched, cooled to room temperature, and frozen for up to three months. For best results do not wash mushrooms prior to storage.
Culinary Uses
White Hon Shimeji mushrooms can be used raw or cooked in a variety of dishes including stir-fries, soups, and stews. They are commonly used to add texture and a nutty flavor to dishes. The mushrooms can also be pickled or dried as a seasoning.
