Medium White mushrooms are botanically classified as Agaricus bisporus. They are one of the most commonly cultivated fungi in the world and are also known as Mushroomers, Common Mushrooms, Table Mushrooms and Cultivated Mushrooms.
Nutritional Value
Medium White mushrooms contain proteins, minerals and vitamins such as B1, B2, C and D. They also contain dietary fiber and antioxidants which can help reduce cholesterol levels.
Applications
Medium White mushrooms can be used raw in salads or cooked in a variety of dishes such as soups, stews, omelets, sauces and more. It is important to note that they should not be eaten raw due to their possible toxicity. They should be cooked for at least 10 minutes in order to destroy any toxins that may be present. Additionally, they can easily be sautéed or grilled and served as a side dish or main course. Additionally, Medium White mushrooms can also be chopped and added into stuffing, risotto, pasta dishes and pizza. They pair well with meats such as beef, pork and chicken as well as vegetables such as tomatoes, onions, bell peppers and spinach.
Storage
Medium White mushrooms should be stored in the refrigerator in a paper bag or loose container for up to 5 days. To prevent them from drying out they can also be kept in a sealed plastic bag lined with damp paper towels. In order to keep them for a longer period of time, they can be frozen and used at a later date.
