Kiwifruit is botanically classified as Actinidia deliciosa and also known as Chinese gooseberry. It shares the same family, Actinidiaceae, with its close relative the hardy kiwi. The two fruits are often confused because of their similar sounding names; however, they are distinctly different from one another in color, size and flavor.

Nutritional Value

Kiwifruit is considered to be an excellent source of vitamins C and E as well as potassium. It contains a high amount of dietary fiber, carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin and is a good source of folate, copper, vitamin K and magnesium.
